Climate is the weather condition of a region over a long period of time. For example, Alaska has a cold climate whereas Africa is known for its warm climate. The most common factor that affects climate would have to be position on Earth. Areas that are in the middle between the North and South poles are commonly warm. While areas that are closer to one or the other are usually colder. The three main climate zones on earth are tropical, temperate, and arctic. Tropical climate zones are classified as Type A climates, they also cover the largest area of earth. These zones are known for their hot, humid weather. Temperate climate zones can be seen as having warmer summers and colder winters. In continental areas, such as central North America, the change between summer and winter can be extreme. Arctic climate is found in areas around the Arctic Ocean. The weather here is always snowy with very low temperatures year round. |
Weather is the temporary condition of a region, depending upon wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, etc. For example, California is warm during the summer but may have some scattered rain showers as well. |
